“Today’s Random Thought (21-MAY-2021)

I once had a former classmate at East Carolina University ask me what Archie character from the Archie Comics franchise I saw myself as being the closest to resembling. I answered that I was probably closest to “Jughead” Jones, Archie Andrews’ best buddy and notorious chowhound. She countered that she saw me more as Archie. Admittedly, I was certainly more into girls than Jughead ever appeared to be in the comics. I probably should’ve dug into that reply more than I did. She reminded me a bit of Betty Cooper.

I wasn’t a regular Archie Comics reader or a subscriber, but I certainly read a fair share of the various comics in the company’s line during my child and teenage years. The last Archie Comics book that I read was either Afterlife with Archie: Book One: Escape From Riverdale, a horror story about zombies overrunning Archie and the gang’s hometown, or Life with Archie: The Death of Archie, a tale of the untimely, heroic death of Archie Andrews and how those that knew him reacted to his death and remembered him in the wake of his passing. Both were really good reads and I should probably see if I can pick up the subsequent issues in the zombie story that I have yet to read.
