Today’s Random Thought (07-JAN-2025)

It’s 2025 and I have to admit that it never really crossed my mind that it would be 2025 when I was this age. I was a child of the 70s and 80s. The year of the Blade Runner movie’s setting has come and gone. This is true for a number of fictional stories and settings that were set in the future, particularly the near-future. To have been born at the end of the 1960s and to be walking around in 2025 obviously isn’t a mind-blowing concept. Yet it still seems almost surreal.

It must be said that in spite of all the technological advancements and innovations that I have witnessed in my lifetime, I must admit that I am a little “bummed out” by the lack of flying cars, handheld energy weapons, and orbital and lunar colonies.
