Take Me Back to The Big Easy

Maybe it’s the alcohol. Okay, it probably IS the alcohol. But I am really feeling the desire to get away to New Orleans again for some mid-winter Southern hospitality, some refreshing alcoholic beverages (e.g., hurricanes, milk punches, Sazeracs, and mint juleps), some tasty food including seafood, some jazz and blues, and some good times where I am not thinking about what I have to do tomorrow or later in the week.

New Orleans surprised me. It did. I have loved my time in Southern cities like Charleston, South Carolina, Savannah, Georgia (https://www.apirateontheprairie.com/post/feeling-at-home-in-the-hostess-city-of-the-south), St. Augustine, Florida, Key West, Florida, and Wilmington, North Carolina (I grew up in the Wilmington area). Yet I was actually surprised by how quickly I fell in love with “The Big Easy.” I have been there twice and, if I live long enough, I hope to visit many more times.

I am actively looking for my next opportunity to visit New Orleans. I have vacation plans for 2025. I am looking forward to those plans. But I am thinking of trying to squeeze in a short visit to The Crescent City in 2025 or early 2026 if at all possible (again, if I live long enough). Any of the other Southern cities would be fun too. But I am currently thinking about New Orleans.

Laissez les bons temps rouler!
