The Kentucky Oaks and Kentucky Derby weekend has arrived. If you’re fortunate enough to be in Louisville for the races and the associated festivities, I expect that you are going to have a dandy time. But with that being said, you can enjoy the races from anywhere that you can watch them take place. And part of the fun is celebrating with food and drinks (and perhaps a natty outfit).

The mint julep is the classic cocktail associated with the "The Run for the Roses" or "The Most Exciting Two Minutes in Sports." But it is not the only cocktail to be found at Churchill Downs this weekend. There is also the cocktail associated with the Kentucky Oaks, the Oaks Lily®, and the new addition to the libations list, the Woodford Reserve Spire.

Below is a link to the recipes for these cocktails and more. From there, you can also select recipes for some tasty food items to grace your table this thoroughbred racing weekend. Whether you are in Louisville at Churchill Downs this weekend, hosting a party at home, or just enjoying the races on your television or computer screen, you can fuel the fun with the menu items that you find there. Have fun, enjoy the races, and stay safe. And maybe remember the victims of the recent flooding and make a contribution to a charity supporting the relief efforts.
