Some Interesting/Recommended TTRPG Games from 2023 for 2024 Gaming Tables

I don't know that I will ever get accustomed to tabletop roleplaying games (TTRPGs) being so socially accepted by the mainstream. I remember how players were viewed as awkward and socially inept nerds (likely true in at least a few cases). I remember the moral panic/Satanic panic that dogged Dungeons & Dragons in the 1980s. I remember when women and girls were witnessed playing and discussing the games about as frequently as you might see a unicorn in your day-to-day existence. 🦄

The times have changed. Now we see celebrities admit their involvement or previous involvement in the hobby, we see characters on popular television shows engage in the hobby, we see actual games being livestreamed to fans that tune in to watch someone else play, and the hobby is covered by the mainstream media. The TTRPG hobby is even being covered in Forbes of all publications!

I actually have the first three games on the list and I expect to eventually pick up the Pendragon Starter Set and the core rules when they are released later this year. And as someone with roots in Eastern Kentucky, I must admit that I am intrigued by Old Gods of Appalachia. So I will probably get around to getting a copy of the game as well. 😁
