Some Halloween Fun

Regardless of your age, I encourage you to have some Halloween fun. After all, why should the kids have all the fun? Many of us enjoy or have enjoyed handing out candy to the kids showing up at our door or driveway in their costumes or even dressing in costume ourselves as we take the kids trick-or-treating. But what about attending a Halloween-themed event? Why not visit a haunted house (“real” or community-produced)? Why not watch a horror movie, a monster movie, or something suspenseful? Why not attend or throw a costume party? Why not pick up a book and read a spooky novel, novella, or short story? Halloween is a great time to take a little time and escape the mundane and the usual.
While I don’t always “celebrate” Halloween, I usually do something in the spirit of the occasion in October. This year, I did “celebrate” and took part in “Poe at the Point.” It was fantastic fun and was scheduled to coincide with last night’s full moon. The folks with Lake Geneva Cruise Line and historic Black Point Estate were fantastic hosts and put on a fun and entertaining event. And I can’t praise enough the performance of author Joshua Rex for his dramatic recitation and reading of three of Edgar Allan Poe’s works.
So take a moment this month, if you haven’t already, and join the kids in having some seasonal fun. 😃
