“Smoky Mountain Rain” (Ronnie Milsap)

Another song about some poor guy trudging through the rain trying to find the woman that he loves. This time it is after the man in question realizes that he wants to return to his hometown and leave the big city behind him. Unfortunately, the girl that he left behind has gone and he is perhaps only now grasping how important she was to him.

I have always liked this song. It is one of my favorite songs by Ronnie Milsap. The Smoky Mountains can be a strikingly beautiful place, yet the challenging terrain and inclement weather could make a journey on foot or even by vehicle a real challenge.
