Playing the Hero or Playing the Villain

I recently added to my collection of tabletop roleplaying game books, box sets, and accessories. As I have mentioned before on this blog, I have been interested of late in once again playing tabletop roleplaying games. Today, I received the new Dragonbane Core Set, the new Dragonbane Gamemaster Screen, and the new Dragonbane Dice Set. On Saturday, I received a copy of the new Marvel Multiverse Role-Playing Game Core Rulebook.
I haven't had the opportunity to peruse the Marvel Multiverse Role-Playing Game Core Rulebook yet, but I have had the opportunity to read some of the Dragonbane rulebook via a PDF copy of the game. It is new version of a popular Swedish tabletop roleplaying game. I like the idea of "MIRTH & MAYHEM ROLEPLAYING." I also like that in addition to the common fantasy races of dwarfs, elves, halflings (or hobbits), and humans, you can play an anthropomorphic duck (see art on the back of the Dragonbane box set in the second picture below) or wolf. Let's face it. If you can suspend disbelief to play as a dwarf, elf, or halfling, why not suspend disbelief to play an anthropomorphic duck or wolf player character (PC)? 🦆🐺😃
As for the Marvel Multiverse Role-Playing Game, I used to enjoy playing and gamemastering the Marvel Super Heroes Advanced Set of my youth. I am hopeful that this new game will be an excellent addition to the various Marvel tabletop roleplaying games that preceded it.
I could see me playing either or both of these games in the not-too-distant future. Well, that or playing one or both of them as the gamemaster and thus playing all the various non-player characters (NPCs) that the PCs encounter during their adventures, including the villains or adversaries.
