On A Mission to Save the Blues

Chris Willman, Senior Music Writer and Chief Music Critic at Variety, interviewed blues legend, Buddy Guy, for his magazine. The article was regarding Buddy Guy’s recent appearance in Sinners, a horror movie. The trailer for the film looks promising and it briefly features Buddy Guy as the protagonist later in his life. At various times in the trailer, the protagonist is shown arming himself with a Browning automatic rifle or BAR, a Colt M1911, and a Thompson submachine gun. Add those firearms to a Buddy Guy movie appearance and you have some serious firepower! I can definitely see myself getting tickets for this movie.
Mr. Guy mentions his promise to blues artists like Muddy Waters and B B. King to keep the blues alive. I have heard him reference this promise on multiple occasions. His career and his club in Chicago have certainly made a monumental contribution to that cause. Hopefully this new movie exposes more people to Buddy Guy, his music, and the blues as an American musical art form.
