Need a Matchmaker?

Okay, I can't help you with this. I am admittedly not remotely qualified to give you advice in the romance department. I once had a divorced woman, that had discovered that her previous boyfriend was cheating on her and having sex with his ex-wife, feel confident enough to look down her nose at me and act condescendingly towards me regarding the state of my own romantic relationship at the time. And I likely don't know enough eligible single, divorced, or widowed individuals to be certain that I help you find true love. I don't even have enough experience to recommend a dating site or a matchmaking service. So what is all this about a matchmaker?

Well, I recently received an e-mail message from a tabletop roleplaying game (TTRPG) publisher, Free League Publishing, regarding a service that helps match up TTRPG players with other TTRPG players. It looks interesting and I may eventually sign up for the service, RPGMatch, to connect me with other gamers once I am ready to join or start a game.

After collecting TTRPG books, box sets, and accessories for years, I have decided to finish reading the Alien: The Roleplaying Game (https://alien-rpg.com) book and make that my first TTRPG to play in decades. After all, it is a science fiction survival horror game set in the Alien franchise. Halloween is right around the corner. With any luck, I will be done reading the book and feeling ready to join a game or even run one as the GM or Game Mother (or Game MU/TH/UR) by then. From what I have seen and read so far, it appears that the game's rule system, based on Free League Publishing's Year Zero Engine, should be relatively simple to grasp and play.

Anyway, if you play TTRPGs or you have been persuaded by me or others to give them a try, you might need some help locating other enthusiasts. Your local game store would be an excellent place to start looking. But the RPGMatch service looks promising. Of course, I have yet to use it. So please do your due diligence and remember that "safety first" is a primary concern both when sharing personal information with others and when meeting people in real life that you have only met online. From what I read about the company (see first link below), the founder shared those concerns when he returned to playing TTRPGs after a relatively long hiatus.
