Mistakes, Corrections, and Revisions

I am at times a bit of a perfectionist. I had a supervisor acknowledge this trait in me when he pointed out that I had a tendency to try to get something perfect more perfect. He basically encouraged me to accept that perfection is generally unattainable and to let good be good enough when it doesn't need to be perfect. For what it is worth, I made improvements in that area and it is less of a challenge for me today. But it is a tendency that I would be wise to remember.

I hate typos, misspellings, and other mistakes in my writing. Some platforms like this blog and Facebook allow me to make corrections and revise what I have written. Yesterday, after I posted "Is There Love Out There?"(https://gregorymaness.wixsite.com/website/post/is-there-love-out-there), I discovered some mistakes that I thought that I had corrected and I didn't like how some of it read. I made a handful of corrections and revisions and reposted it. I hate that a few people saw it before I had tidied it up and reposted it. With that being said, I am not a professional writer and it almost certainly could still be improved. But it is a blog entry, not an encyclopedia or dictionary entry. It's good enough. Well, it is for me at this time anyway.

I kind of wish that I could make corrections and revisions in daily life like I was a director and a producer shooting a movie. It would be great to be able to yell "Cut!" and do another take. It would be fantastic to be able to cut or add a scene. It would be so cool to rewrite dialogue when I don't like how something that I said sounded or how it came across to someone else. But I can't. Life is messy. It can be wonderful, but perfection is unattainable. And that is something that I have also come to accept and appreciate.
