Looks Like I Am Going to Mars 👨‍🚀🧑‍🚀

Okay, I must admit to being somewhat shocked to learn that my mostly forgotten application to be part of the first manned mission to Mars was actually accepted. Being over fifty years of age and with the mission still being slated to take place years in the future, I never really thought that I would be selected. But after taking a look at the patch that me and my future teammates on the Landing Crew will be wearing (presumably along with a separate, more “optimistic” mission patch), perhaps my selection shouldn’t be a surprise. I’m not expected to return to earth. This job is almost certain to be the last job that I ever have. 💀🫢

Of course, I am joking about my involvement in any future Mars missions (I am admittedly very disappointed that the lunar, Martian, and orbital colonies envisioned by authors, animators, artists, and futurists when I was a child have yet to arrive). The patch pictured above arrived with my copy of the Mothership Deluxe Set. Mothership is a science fiction horror tabletop roleplaying game (TTRPG) by Tuesday Knight Games. Think of movies like those in the Alien film franchise. And movies like Outland starring Sean Connery. I would have posted this as an April Fools’ Day joke/prank, but my copy of Mothership didn’t arrive until yesterday. 👨‍🚀 🧑‍🚀 🧑‍🚀
