“If this Is It” (Huey Lewis & The News)

Great song from the 1980s. It reminds me of a time in the 1990s that I told a woman that I was seeing that I was getting the feeling that she was cooling on the relationship and that she should just be honest with me. She reassured me that I was mistaken and that my perception was just the result of us having been unable to see each other of late. However, I eventually decided that enough was enough and I stopped by her house to retrieve some of my things.

Predictably, she showed up with a guy with whom she worked. She sent him off to another room and tried to tell me how I was mistaken about things. I made it clear that I was done and when she made a reference to seeing me in the future, I expressed a desire never to see her again. Then she got mad. I am not terribly surprised that she evidently later married that guy. 😂
