I Don’t Know That “Miss” Is the Right Word
Updated: Dec 22, 2024

I have to be honest here. I don't know that "miss" is the word that I would use when it comes to the relatively few women that I have met, let into my heart, and that subsequently left me to wonder whether or not I would go back in time and prevent us from meeting were such a thing possible. On a couple of occasions I have reached the point where I absolutely wanted nothing more to to do with a woman and I was pretty clear and straightforward about my feelings on the matter. On another occasion a woman made it clear to me that she didn't ever want to see me again, that she didn't care one whit about me, and that she quite possibly never really did. In each of those cases there was a lot of hurt that I had to work through and I had to learn to move beyond it. And when I eventually came to terms with the fact that a woman in question had not exactly been a bright, shining highlight of my life, I can't exactly say that I missed her.
Any and all of those relationships could have ended and still been viewed by me as a net positive experience that I "missed" had the relationships ended better and if I had felt valued as a human being, cared for, and respected by the other person. That was not the case. If they are on my mind on occasion, I am certainly not missing them. 😉
