“If you do not desist in your opposition to the British, I shall march this army over the mountains, hang your leaders, and lay waste to your country with fire and sword.” — Major Patrick Ferguson, British Army

On October 7, 1780 Patriot and Loyalist forces met in a ferocious battle, the Battle of Kings Mountain, that left the Loyalist commanding officer dead and his forces captured by the vengeful victors that later sentenced to death and hung a small number of their prisoners. To learn more about this important battle of the American Revolutionary War, click on the first link below and watch the short video. Then click on the second link to an article by the American Battlefield Trust to read more about the battle. And if you are in the area, consider paying a visit to Kings Mountain National Military Park (click third link below).
Today's elected officials/"leaders" would be wise to consider the wisdom of rattling the saber in the faces of people that just want to be left alone.
