Calling for Help
Updated: Dec 23, 2024
“The other thing is, it’s easy to pick up the phone when things are going well. When that phone really gets heavy, when you isolate yourself, when you’re in a dark spot, pick up the phone. You will get the extraordinary, never be able to pay it back support from people who love you that I got. Pick up that phone.” -- Tripp Tracy, Carolina Hurricanes' television analyst

Man, it really can be tough to pick up the phone or take that incoming call when we are in a dark place and hurting. Well, I have felt like that before anyway.
We all likely know someone that has struggled with addiction. We may have even personally experienced addiction or problems with substance abuse. But regardless of whether or not you have experienced the trials and tribulations of addiction/substance abuse, at times in your life you may have felt very isolated, very alone, and in a very dark place. If so, did you reach out to family and friends or did you suffer in silence? I am going to encourage you to reach out, even though I haven't always followed that sound advice myself. No man (or woman) is an island. Take advantage of the resources that you have and lean on the people that love and care for you.
I really like Tripp Tracy. I am glad that he got the help that he needed and that it appears that he is doing well now. I am sure that his family and friends were happy to support him and I am sure that they are glad that he is back in the game. 🙂
