A Choice to Be Broken?

This morning on Twitter, I read some advice that was offered up about not giving anyone the power to break you. While I understand that the advice may be prudent and borne of painful experience and heartbreak, I wonder if it is really living and loving to never fully place our trust in someone that we love. Sure, you probably should be cautious as to whom you entrust with your heart. But sometimes you have to lower your defenses. And that is when you are vulnerable to being “broken.”

As one that has allowed himself to be emotionally broken (or at least momentarily rendered more or less “hors de combat”) by choosing to trust people with my heart that were ultimately proven to be unconcerned with my emotional well-being, I humbly and respectfully offer up a video clip (see link below) with a classic line about being “broken” from The Lion in Winter. 🤔🦁🌨

I also offer up the following exchange from the same movie. 😉
