Why Yes I Have

Yes. It’s labeled “DO NOT ANSWER/CALL!” I had deleted the woman’s number only to receive a brief, congratulatory text from her one Friday evening months after she suddenly broke off all contact and communication with me. I replied to her the following morning when I figured out who had texted me. She then subsequently continued with the stubborn refusal to speak with me and she eventually threatened me with “legal activities” if I continued to contact her via text or e-mail message.
It’s amusing when you consider that I had initially respected her wishes. I had not spoken to her or reached out to her in the months since she first hung up on me that cold, rainy night in December. This after telling me that she couldn’t continue to talk to me or see me. The thing is that I was responding to her text message congratulating me on my new job and I was trying to get an explanation for why she had suddenly broke off all contact with me and refused to see me. She tried to gaslight me by insisting that she had told me why, but that is patently untrue.
I recently, while cleaning up my e-mail folders, came across a draft response that I wrote shortly after getting the e-mail message from this woman that included her threat. I don’t typically respond well to threats and I crafted a quick, insulting, profane response that I gave serious consideration to sending. I don’t like walking away from a challenge or a threat, but I ultimately decided not to engage. It was admittedly the wiser, more mature response, even if it was far less satisfying.
I ultimately blocked her on LinkedIn (as we had been mutual connections), as well as blocking her phone number and her personal e-mail account. I didn’t want to spend my time wondering if and when she might choose to contact me again.
I later unblocked her for a time, but I eventually decided to block her on all of the social media platforms where I could find her. She didn’t want to be a part of my life, so I figured that I shouldn’t make it easier for her to check up on me. I suppose that she could reach out to me via e-mail or by phone if she still has my contact information or dug it up somewhere. In any case, it doesn’t matter. I can choose to read any messages that she might choose to send or just delete them out of hand. And I certainly don’t see myself answering a phone call from her should she call. I might or might not listen to a voicemail message. I honestly don’t know how I would respond to that possibility or to receiving any message from her. That’s the truth
You may have noticed that the label for her phone number is a command not to call her, in addition to not taking her phone calls. That is just a little insurance policy for the day in the future where a drunken pirate might be tempted to call her up to say “Fuck you and your threats” and tell her exactly what I think about her. 🏴☠️🦜😉
