“Trip Around the Sun” (Jimmy Buffett and Martina McBride)

I considered waiting until the New Year or my birthday to share this song with anyone that might stumble across my humble blog, but I finally decided to pull the trigger and just put out this early Christmas gift featuring Jimmy Buffet and Martina McBride. This song certainly hits differently in your fifties on the chilly prairies of the Midwest than it would as a bright-eyed beach kid in his late teens and early twenties spending his summers chasing the sun from sunup to sundown and drinking beer with friends and chasing love (or a vague approximation of love) under the moon on the Carolina coast. I certainly hope that there are plenty more trips around the sun for me.

I can relate to this song at this stage of my life, although I have often replied to people saying that they were "hanging in there" that "Some days that's enough." 2023 is right around the corner and I resolve to keep living this life and to enjoy the carousel. I will probably make some other resolutions too (particularly for those that didn't get met in 2022). 😉
