Tools for Making Tabletop Roleplaying Games (TTRPGs) Safer?

While I haven’t played in a tabletop roleplaying game (TTRPG) for decades, I have heard of RPG safety tools. And I admit that I rolled my eyes and scoffed when I first heard about them. After all, my friends and I didn’t need any candyass safety rules when we played these games back when the games were a relatively new form of entertainment. But like any decent person (I think that I am a somewhat decent person), I don’t want anyone playing at the table with me or playing with me via the Internet to be traumatized or emotionally compromised by our shared pastime. People get together to play TTRPGs and other games to have fun.
Aten of the We Love TTRPGs! YouTube channel provides one of the best, most balanced takes that I have seen regarding such tools. Resolving not to be an asshole to your fellow players will go a long way towards not having to rely on these tools, which Aten refers to as “RPG Organizational Tools” rather than as “RPG safety tools,” to keep your games fun.
