The Shower Beer
Yes, it’s a thing. It even has a Wikipedia article. Have I had a shower beer? Yes, several times and long before it became a cultural thing.
I can’t tell when I first had a shower beer. I used to work and play outdoors under the summer sun in coastal North Carolina. I do remember a scene in the 1988 movie Bull Durham where Kevin Costner’s “Crash” Davis is drinking a beer in the shower after being ejected from a game. Maybe I got the idea there. While I have managed to avoid being ejected from a baseball game, on a few occasions I have had a postgame shower beer after a scorching hot day on the baseball diamond. And I have had at least a few shower beers after an energy-sapping day of performing landscaping or construction work under a blazing Carolina and California sun.
It really is a great way to decompress and unwind after a long day in the heat. Best environment in which to have a shower beer? I have to think that would be an enclosed outdoor shower commonly seen at beach houses on the coast, preferably without a roof and with blue skies and white, puffy clouds overhead. 😃🍺 🧼 🚿
