Today marks the fifteenth anniversary of the Lake Superior sinking of the American freighter, SS Edmund Fitzgerald. Below is an article from Fox 2 Detroit. The ship was bound for Detroit on November 10, 1975, but never made it. The ship had been built in River Rouge near Detroit. The Edmund Fitzgerald was a familiar sight on the Great Lakes and was renowned for both her size and her multiple record-breaking performances as it pertained to cargo hauled during a season. As one might imagine, it was a shock to many for such a large, prestigious ship to just disappear with its entire crew of twenty-nine men without a distress signal during a storm in the late 20th century.
