The Battle of Stamford Bridge

The Battle of Stamford Bridge was a pivotal, historically significant battle fought in 1066 that took place just a mere three weeks before the more famous Battle of Hastings that itself paved the way to the putting of a Norman, William the Conqueror, on the throne as the King of England. The significant, yet overshadowed Battle of Stamford Bridge was waged between Anglo-Saxon and Viking forces and would represent the last Viking effort to take England.
