When someone owes you money that he or she can’t repay or doesn’t intend to repay or otherwise does you dirty, you can generally count on him or her to not seek you out and to give you a wide berth if he or she does unexpectedly run into you down the road. I suppose that is at least a small blessing to know that you are likely done with this person even if the experience cost you money, time, pain, etc. I don’t know if that always qualifies as getting off from the relationship “cheap,” but it is arguably something positive.
