Spending Time with Old Friends

I realize that there are a number of great books that I have yet to read. I better get cracking if I expect to make a dent in such a massive list. With that being said, I am committing myself to rereading some books that I have already read and enjoyed. In many cases, I read the original, unabridged work. In some other cases, I read the abridged children’s version of a classic. Now is the time to read the full, unabridged editions.

In a way, the idea of rereading favorite books elicits a feeling similar to what I might feel regarding the opportunity to catch up with an old friend. Sometimes we learn something new about an old friend when we catch up with one another. Moreover, we may think of things differently and perceive of things differently with the benefit of our experiences and our maturity.

Below are pictures of the covers of a few books that I have identified as early candidates for rereading. I am clearly leaning towards science fiction books, but I intend to branch out in time. I would think that rereading a book may also inspire me to read other books by the author that I haven’t read. We shall see.

Do YOU have a favorite book? When was the last time you got together? Perhaps you should take some time to get reacquainted. You might uncover something that you didn’t know about your old friend.
