“Son of a Preacher Man” (Dusty Springfield)
I’m the son of an electrician, not a “preacher man.” With that being said, I have always liked this song. I heard it driving into work this morning and my mind flashed back to a memory from my high school days. I recalled how a girlfriend relayed to me part of a conversation that she had with some of her female classmates. Evidently one young woman had commented on me and characterized me as “sweet and innocent.” The remark, as it was relayed to me, seemed to be kind of “catty”with the suggestion that my girlfriend was something less than “sweet and innocent.” Both of us found that characterization of me to be amusing and we shared a laugh.
