Some Views of Newport’s Waters from Fort Adams

Fort Adam’s existence was borne from the necessity of the young nation to protect Narragansett Bay and the coastal city of Newport, Rhode Island. As such, the massive fort holds a commanding view of the area. Below are some photos of the waters that would have been under the protection of the fort’s guns. And believe me when I tell you that the photos don’t fully capture the truth that Newport is indeed the “Sailing Capital of the World.”
