Modiphius Entertainment Ltd has released a new solo tabletop roleplaying game or TTRPG based upon the Fallout franchise and its own, more traditional TTRPG based upon the franchise, Fallout: The Post-Nuclear Tabletop Roleplaying Game. The physical books for Fallout: Wasteland Wanderer are expected to be available in late-April 2026 and those that pre-order a physical book will reportedly receive the complimentary PDF copy of the game immediately.

The Fallout franchise started with a series of popular video games and has spawned the aforementioned TTRPG, a tabletop wargame that utilizes miniatures, Fallout: Wasteland Warfare, and a television series by Amazon Prime that reportedly has its third season in the works.

Fallout: Wasteland Wanderer: A Solo Roleplaying Game certainly looks interesting and, if you’re a fan of the franchise, buying a copy may be a “no-brainer.” If playing a solo TTRPG set in a retro-futuristic, post-apocalyptic setting with unlimited potential for adventure and exploration sounds like fun, you will probably want to pick up a copy and take your player character or PC into the wasteland. As for myself, I haven’t decided to purchase a copy quite yet. I already own a copy of the the latest edition of Twilight: 2000, a TTRPG set in an alternate history, post-apocalyptic world where a World War III between the Soviet Union and its Warsaw Pact allies and the United States and its NATO allies has dropped civilization to the canvas, but not delivered the knockout punch. I referenced the game in a previous blog post, “A Look at the World War III That Wasn’t” (https://www.apirateontheprairie.com/post/a-look-at-the-world-war-iii-that-wasn-t) and I hope to eventually adventure in that dark, grim setting that piggybacks on my own memories of living during the Cold War. But the Fallout setting with its retro-futuristic, “atompunk” vibe does promise an entertaining, interesting setting in which to create new stories.

Enjoy your exploration, future wanderer.
