Have you heard, seen, or read something that has gotten you curious about tabletop roleplaying games (TTRPGs) like Dungeons & Dragons or Traveller, but you don't want to spend a lot of money before you are even sure if it's something that you would enjoy? Well you are in luck.
First, it is more likely than ever that you can find someone or a group that is looking for one or more prospective players to join a game. That is a great way to get your feet wet with little to no financial outlay and no commitment beyond taking part in a single gaming session. Second, there are free and low-cost TTRPGs. In some cases, the publisher gives away a free version of the rules that gives potential players the opportunity to try out the game before making a financial investment.
