No, It Is Not Easy

I agree. It isn’t easy. You may believe that you deserve an apology, an opportunity to get closure, or just the opportunity to say goodbye face-to-face. But what you believe may not align with the other person’s intentions. The other party in any interaction always has a say in how things go. Your emotional welfare may not be a factor in their decision-making process.


Moving on and accepting what happened requires some toughness. You may carry the battle scars, but those scars mark the survivors.


As you might expect, the topic of closure has been debated and discussed due to the fact that most everyone will see a valued relationship come to an end. And there is disagreement as to the purported value of closure. Regardless, I believe that at least some people benefit from having the opportunity to process what happened by having the opportunity to hear from the other party and to ask questions. But if you are denied that opportunity, you have to figure it out on your own. Hopefully, you don’t waste too much of your life trying to figure it out yourself. Sometimes you have to make up an answer and move on with your life. Admittedly, that can be tough to do when you are feeling stung.
