Keep Playing

I couldn’t agree more. Yes, as an adult you have responsibilities and obligations. Yes, you have appointments and deadlines. Yes, you will be expected to act like an adult from time-to-time. But keep playing.
Take time to flex your creative muscles. Take time to place yourself in fanciful times and places. Be the hero (and/or the rogue). Fight imaginary and/or historical monsters. Spend time hanging out with fictional characters. Run, skip, hop, jump, draw, paint, color, sculpt, write, and dance (if you like to dance). Do something that puts an earnest smile on your face and a twinkle in your eyes.
Let the serious adults and the “I am so cool” teens scoff. Ignore them… or mock their “I am so serious” demeanor. Play for yourself. Play for your own benefit. Play for your heart and your spirit. And perhaps be an example to the kid looking forward to adulthood with anticipation and yet perhaps a bit of trepidation.
