Keep Fighting the Good Fight

Sometimes it seems like you just can’t win. Sometime the odds are not in your favor. Sometimes it seems like the cards are stacked against you. And while these things may be true, sometimes quitting is just not an option. Sometimes, for a variety of reasons, you can’t quit. Sometimes you have to keep trying and keep fighting because it is the right thing to do. Sometimes it is the only thing that you can do.

Yet sometimes someone does the seemingly impossible. Sometimes someone overcomes the odds. Sometimes someone snatches victory from the jaws of defeat (and sometimes the reverse is true 😉). Sometimes someone wins through sheer perseverance and willpower. Sometimes someone succeeds or wins because he or she wouldn’t quit.

Admittedly, one of life’s challenges is deciding when to persevere and when to give up or surrender. And in circumstances where giving up or surrendering is an option, I can’t give you any advice that would apply to all circumstances and to all situations. I can only suggest that you to listen to your gut, listen to your conscience, and fight hard when you choose to fight. Fight like you are fighting for the last spot on Noah’s Ark and it is beginning to rain.

Below is a link to a scene from the movie Flash Gordon in which the titular character is on what appears to be a suicide mission to literally crash the wedding of Ming the Merciless and to save the earth. In this scene, “Flash” acknowledges that it is unlikely that he will survive and reunite with Dale Arden. He is bound by his own personal sense of responsibility to continue in spite of the odds. Ultimately, he comes out victorious and gets the girl.
