It Takes Two to Tango

I find myself agreeing with the sentiment expressed below. I can’t say that I have ever “fought the good fight” and convinced someone that I was worthy of their caring, their concern, their friendship, or their love. It just doesn’t work that way. You can absolutely adore someone, but if they don’t have any reciprocal feelings for you it is just wasted effort to try and win them over to your way of seeing things. If they don’t care for you in anything but the most superficial, uncommitted way, you are wasting your time and energy on a losing fight.
Don’t get it twisted. Two people that care for one another, that have feelings for one another, and that love one another can fight for one another. They can fight TOGETHER for their relationship. But one person acting unilaterally on feelings that he or she alone possesses is the textbook definition of futility.
Admittedly, when you are thoroughly smitten with someone, that can be a difficult thing to keep in mind. In my lifetime, I have succeeded on occasion and failed on occasion. 😉
