“I Saw Red” (Warrant)

Let’s be honest. Seeing his face OR her face would be pretty damn traumatic. Seeing his car parked in her driveway when the lights are out would be awful enough to break your heart and irrevocably end the relationship for you.

I was listening to Hair Nation on Sirius/XM this morning and I heard this song. I was not exactly a big Warrant fan, but I did like their music and music videos. This song was one that I really liked. If you have ever been cheated on and/or loved someone whose heart now belongs to another, I think that you can understand just how painful and damaging an experience like that mentioned in the song would be.

I knew that Jani Lane, the band’s frontman and the songwriter that composed the song, had died under tragic circumstances. But I didn’t know the details.

I found an article online (see second link below) that tells about his life and his death due to acute alcohol poisoning. It mentions his two failed marriages and his hopeful third marriage. It mentions the time when he did “see red” after he walked in on his girlfriend and another man having sex, resulting in him needing psychiatric care for a time. I even learned about an alleged instance of sexual assault/rape that he may have endured at the hands of another band and its manager. It is a reminder to me that you never really know what is going on with people, particularly people that you don’t know well.
