I Can Accept Them Leaving

I can accept (eventually 😉) a person choosing to leave my life. Frankly, you have no choice but to accept their decision. Yes, it hurts. It may be absolutely crushing. But to quote Bonnie Raitt, “‘Cause I can’t make you love me if you don’t.” I just think that it is a shame that people choose to “just leave” without a conversation on the way going out the figurative or literal door, because some other concern or consideration outweighs any concern or regard that they have for the person being left behind. That kind of stings (to put it mildly), but like their decision to leave, you have to accept that it has happened.

I didn’t know the story behind the song "I Can't Make You Love Me" until I looked it up for this particular post. I love the song as sung by Bonnie Raitt, but it REALLY should have been a country song. 😂
