Four Reasons to Go on a Solo Adventure

Servant of Shiloh of the RPG Elite YouTube channel gives us four reasons to give solo roleplaying a shot. Tabletop roleplaying games or TTRPGs are a great way to have fun and spend some quality time with family and/or friends. But have you ever considered adventuring on your own? Perhaps you should.

I have made some halting, timid steps in my own return to the TTRPG hobby. I have collected a number of books, box sets, and accessories for a variety of TTRPGs. I have watched a number of videos on YouTube relating to the hobby. I have explored a handful of game stores in the area. I have read the introductory rules for the Call of Cthulhu Starter Set and played through the introductory scenario, “Alone Against the Flames.” I have even started a second run through that introductory scenario, although I have been pulled away a couple times and, as a result, have yet to finish this second run through the adventure (I will finish it soon, Lord willing!). I have also looked into joining an online game via StartPlaying (https://startplaying.games/). But playing as a solo participant in a “solitaire” game is likely to be the easiest, most accessible, and most convenient way for me to return to the hobby given my job and my schedule. In addition to the Call of Cthulhu solo scenarios that I have already purchased, I have other TTRPGs that are designed for solo play or that have rules for solo play. This video has further encouraged me to buckle down and make playing one or more of these games a priority.
