While undoubtedly not the original “cheating song,” this is certainly a well-known one. In this particular one, both parties are doing more than just entertaining the idea of finding happiness with someone other than the one that they are each currently seeing. They both act on that desire and discover more about both themselves and each other. For a “cheating song,” this is about as happy an ending as you can get.
