Emotional Shrapnel

There are accounts of people that have been shot or hit with shrapnel or fragments from a bomb blast or other explosion that still carry the projectiles in their bodies after they have been treated and have recovered from their wounds. Similarly, we carry the memories of previous heartbreaks and disappointments with us after the fact. Hopefully, we carry them with us with little pain or problems.
