But When My Head Touches Ground, Look Out!

I am, generally speaking, pretty forgiving and understanding with the people within my circle of family and friends. For that matter, I'm generally willing to overlook the odd slight, thinly veiled insult, or small betrayal from someone outside of my circle of family and friends. But I have a limit. I have made it clear to more than one person that I will bend over backwards to avoid a confrontation, but that they shouldn't abuse the privilege and mistake meekness for weakness. There's a limit to how much I am willing to bend over backwards. And I would argue that it would be wiser and better for everyone if they don’t attempt to see what might happen should my head touch the ground.
It is amazing to me the people that foolishly assume that they know me well enough to take liberties with my decency, my patience, my understanding, and my desire to keep the peace. I can be a vengeful individual. It is not a trait that I am particularly proud to acknowledge. I have a vivid imagination and I am easily capable of dreaming up a variety of dark, horrifying means to avenge myself upon someone that thought that deliberately provoking me was a good idea. Frankly, my belief and faith in God has stopped me from pursuing vengeance or “payback” on a few occasions. Pretty ironic considering that at least a few of these individuals would doubtless scoff at someone's religious beliefs.
