A Hollywood Star That Has Gotten His Hands Dirty
I can’t recall a movie starring Denzel Washington that I haven’t enjoyed, although I can’t admit to having seen everything in his long and distinguished career. Frankly, I should do something to address that unfortunate reality.
In addition to being an accomplished actor, he certainly comes across as a genuinely good guy. Anytime that I have heard him speak or read comments from him, I have been struck by the belief that he is almost certainly a talented, intelligent, articulate, thoughtful, compassionate, God-fearing, and decent man. He is the kind of man that others admire for much more than his career accomplishments.
As someone that has worked as a sanitation worker prior to completing my undergraduate degree, I was surprised to learn that he too has been a sanitation worker. He was also a postal worker. So it is fair to say that he didn’t come from great privilege. It made him even more relatable in my eyes. And such a humble background certainly has given him an appreciation for what is truly important in life.
